FBI Confirm Quizzing UFO Researcher
Dated: Wed February 9, 2011

The Seattle Weekly has run an article about the Phoenix UFO wave and FBI investigations that
followed (see full article below)

It confirms - at least from the newspaper's claimed recently received emails from an FBI agent -
Peter's (Davenport) story that he was requested to meet FBI agents following the Pheonix Lights
sightings. (Colin Andrews was with Peter Davenport for several days in Phoenix, viewing the
material gathered and interviewing many witnesses. They can be seen below together at Village
Labs where in depth analysis was carried out).

The section of the story says:

"On April 21, 1997, five weeks after the Phoenix Lights, a special agent in the FBI's New York office
named Steve Bongardt called and left Davenport a message.

"He said, 'We know who you are. We have seen [the sightings] you have posted on your website
and we have found them very interesting, and we would like to meet you.'"

Davenport says he met with two agents a month later, for four hours, at a home in Rutherford, N.J.
"[Bongardt] said UFOs are for real," Davenport remembers. "Number two, he said, 'We know what
UFOs are and what they appear to be, namely sophisticated craft under intelligent control,' and
number three, 'The people in government are a bit worried' I was stunned to silence."

Two weeks ago, on January 27, Bongardt e-mailed Seattle Weekly to say that he could confirm
only that he was and remains a special agent with the FBI, and that he and the other agent(s),
whose names cannot be disclosed, did meet with Davenport in May 1997. Bongardt would not
divulge anything further.

Davenport has had no correspondence since that meeting with either agent."

Colin: I have great respect for Peter Davenport and consider him a good friend.  I asked him if he
would give me a response to that written above.  Here is his reply, posted with his permission:

                                                    ----------

Greetings, Colin!

Thanks very much for the note!

Yes, I remember the gathering in Phoenix, and I believe we spoke on the one-year anniversary of
the Phoenix Lights event.  Frances Barwood was in the audience with her husband, and it was the
event at which the emcee’s introductory comments ran to about 15-20 minutes!!  I think you and I
looked at one another, wondering whether the speakers were ever going to get a chance to speak!!
The part of the article, which describes my meeting with the two FBI agents, is pretty accurate.
There are a couple of “glitches” in what the author wrote, but I can’t fault him for those minor errors.
The reason I was finally able to reveal with whom in the U. S. government I had met is because I
called Bongardt in October 2010, requesting him permission to do so.  I am not in the habit of
requesting permission from anyone in the government, but Bongardt had requested that I not
reveal publicly with what part of the government I had met.  He explained that the FBI did not want
journalists knocking on their door, asking whether its employees believed in UFO’s.

I honored that request for over thirteen years, but as I prepared for a major presentation in Seattle
on October 25th, I wanted to be able to share with my audience with whom I had met.  Bongardt
averred that it had been long enough since our meeting that he would have no objection if I were to
reveal that it had been with FBI agents that I had met.

By the way, Special Agent (now supervisor) Steve Bongardt was the deputy chief investigator (?) of
the USS Cole bombing, and spoke frequently (I think) with Lt. Commander (ret.) William Donaldson
(sp?) about the downing of TWA 800 in July 1996.  Donaldson was a certified U. S. Navy accident
investigator, and probably the most ardent skeptic regarding the U. S. government’s “investigation”
of TWA 800 I’ve ever spoken with on that subject.

Both Donaldson and Bongardt had been U. S. Navy pilots (A4’s and F-14’s, respectively), so they
probably were able to speak with one another quite honestly, and candidly, about that disaster.
You can google Bongardt’s name and find many hits.  He apparently has taken on the CIA over
their lies and bungling, so I suspect that his heart is in the right place.  He is really a quite likable
guy.

In my opinion, Colin, the meeting I had with those two agents strongly suggests that the UFO issue
is discussed, and ruminated on, in the halls of the U. S. government.  That fact I think we all in the
UFO community have suspected, and assumed, to be the case, but now we have yet another
glimmer of evidence on that matter.  My greatest fear…absent either proof, or even evidence…is
that the governments of the world are shielding the world’s human population from this issue,
possibly because an alien force may be influencing events on this planet, and they are doing so,
directly or indirectly, from inside government.

This may be wild speculation, but the possibility worries me.  Interestingly, Bongardt posed to me a
question that touches on this issue.  At approximately 12:32 hrs. during my meeting with Bongardt
and another FBI agent, the former asked me whether I had any information which suggested to me
that there might be people inside the (U. S.) government, who might be acting in an “extra-
Constitutional” (his word) fashion, with respect to the UFO issue.  I almost fell off my chair!!  I felt
almost stunned to silence for a few seconds, saying to myself, “Good Lord, if you people don’t know
the answer to that question, what in Heaven’s name are you doing, posing it to some half-baked
UFO investigator?!!”  I’ve told this story many times.

My response was “no,” and that I had no such data, but I added that I assumed that people inside
the U. S. government were lying to the American People about the UFO phenomenon.  As I recall,
he did not respond to my answer, or react to it in any way I could detect, and we just went on to
another subject.

I emphasize that I have NO evidence to support my theory about a possible alien agenda on our
planet.  It’s just that when I look at the events that are taking place, and how so many of them seem
to be marching mankind to the precipice of oblivion, I realize that it is one possible explanation for
why things appear to be going so poorly on this planet.

I hope you have a safe journey to Los Angeles!  Please convey my regards to Synthia!
Regards,
Peter
