I am highly honored to publish this exclusive work by artist Doug Auld, a work which is still in progress. His work is not only exquisite but I support where he is coming from in relation to nature, humanity as a whole and the heroes of our day, 'Whistleblowers' - Colin Andrews November 28, 2013 (CA: Comments) ======== "THOSE WHO BLEW THE WHISTLE” - Painted portraits of whistleblowers by Doug Auld Whistleblower - a person who informs on another or makes public disclosure of corruption or wrongdoing. Artists Statement: The concept of painting portraits of “whistleblowers” came to me while examining the lives of individuals who were willing to bring upon themselves enormous controversy and upheaval for seemingly little to no reward. They have lost careers, families, friends and some have even been incarcerated and allegedly eliminated for their claims. Many of their names, faces and causes are to this day unknown to the general public. Withstanding all, their information was important enough for them to risk all for their convictions. Within the term whistleblowers, I have also chosen to portray individuals who bring awareness to previously unknown information that may enlighten public awareness. Many of these controversial ideas are contrary to the status quo of present political, corporate, scientific and religious interests of the day. My main fascination is with informers within the ”paranormal” UFO, Alien Abduction and so-called Black Ops and “Classified" topics. These are murky and difficult categories that by their very nature are difficult regarding reliable information. The portraits I have created are of people who are living as well as deceased. Although many of them have my admiration, my intent is not to impose my own thoughts or beliefs regarding them, but rather to re contextualize their images through painting them, hoping to have them rediscovered and re evaluated.
